Artist statement
"I love taking any opportunity I can to create, and also being involved in the community. I saw this project as a great way to bring everyone together and showcase local art! I know I'm still very young but I want to pursue a career in some kind of art and I'm always looking for ways to put myself out there. Over the pandemic I think art was really opened up to me with all the free-time I had and I was able to really sit down, practice, and learn. Being involved in this project gives the community an amazing opportunity to come together and create!"
About the project
The Wisconsin Historical Society's COVID-19 Poster Project is a series of posters designed and created by Wisconsin artists. Public information posters have long been a part of history. This project features Wisconsin artists and their representations of the COVID-19 pandemic through a new, relevant public information poster. These posters, created by Wisconsin artists during the COVID-19 pandemic, will become part of the collections at the Society where they can be viewed and appreciated by future generations.
Hope is what has helped us get through the toughest days of this pandemic. The story of the COVID-19 Pandemic did not end in July 2020 with the release of our last poster. New waves and variants continue to prolong its impact. Despite these hardships, we have found moments of hope that bring us together, even when we are apart. These messages, and new stories over the past year, are the focus of this next phase of posters.
