      Summary

The young boys, Niigaani and Bineshinh, find comfort in the night sky and they reflect on the many starts and so many stories that the boys spend night after night observing and sharing. After a beautiful show of northern lights, Niigaani explains how the northern lights are the spirits of relatives who have passed. "Nookos spirit is up there in the stars," says Niigaani to Bineshiinh. Nooko was their grandmother and one of the many sights they see in the night sky.

Thomas Peacock has authored or co-authored many books, two of which were Minnesota Book Award winners. The Seventh Generation was a multicultural children’s book of the year (American Association of Multicultural Education). The Forever Sky received a Kirkus starred review (April 2019). He received both his master’s and doctoral degrees in educational leadership from Harvard University. He is a member of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Anishinaabe Ojibwe and lives with his wife, Betsy, in Red Cliff, Wisconsin.
