"Ope" is a Midwestern variant of "oops" and is often said with a sudden start. For example, you might say "Ope! I'm sorry!" if you bump into someone. The expression is used in the Midwest to express surprise or to politely acknowledge an accident or someone in the way. It's often heard in states like Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois.
Each year, National History Day® (NHD) frames students’ research within a historical theme. The theme is chosen for broad application to world, national, or state history and its relevance to ancient history or to the more recent past.
