100% Natural Wool Yarn sourced from the Merino sheep at Old World Wisconsin. The sheep were hand sheered during the opening weekend, 2024, using traditional methods from the 1800's. Guests have the opportunity to take part in cleaning, spinning and dying the wool at the Norwegian Farm exhibit there. Old World Wisconsin also partners with a local company to supplement the cleaning and processing of the wool each year.
About a dozen merino sheep are fed, raised, and cared for at Old World Wisconsin, and a few lambs are born each year. Guests to the site are welcome to interact with many different farm animals at their Animal Encounters exhibit.
From the gentle touch against your skin to the cozy embrace of your finished creations, the natural qualities of Merino wool elevate every knitting or crocheting project.
